We took Cuajota out this evening. It was a great Sunday. My football team won, it wasn’t too hot and the sun broke through the cloud cover. One problem…no wind. It was blowing about 5 knots and I readied the boat, turned it into the wind, raised the sails and turned the motor off and……drifted. The wind completely died. I fired the motor back up and motor sailed hoping the wind would pick up. It didn’t. A few times I caught a gust and it pushed the boat along at about 2 knots. The Santa Ana winds are due soon and I loom forward to those days! Gusts can be 30-40 knots. That should push the boat nicely through the water.
